ROCKVALE — Despite a 10-hit performance from the lineup, Rockvale took advantage of two different six-run innings and beat Cascade 17-8 on Thursday night.
After falling behind 6-0 after the second inning, Cascade scored two runs off a Rockvale throwing error, cutting the Lady Rocket lead to 6-2. From there, Rockvale continued to pour on the offense, plating one run in the third, two in the fourth and two more in the fifth.
The Lady Champs answered with five runs in the top of the sixth inning, scoring the first on a fielder’s choice and then two more when Momo Bilbro smacked a double to center field.
Brianna Horn added a fifth run in the inning on a RBI single to right.
But as quickly as Cascade rallied for six runs to cut the Rockvale lead to 11-8 by the end of the sixth, the Lady Rockets responded with six more in the bottom of the inning.
Bilbro led the Lady Champs at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Horn drove in three.
Katelyn Lambert got the start and pitched 5 1/3 innings before Horn took over and pitched the final 2/3 inning.
