TULLAHOMA — It was surely a wild way to claim a win, but the Cascade Lady Champions found a way to get it done on Wednesday at Tullahoma.
The Lady Champs hammered the Lady Wildcats for 14 hits and held off a seventh-inning rally for the 20-16 win.
Nine Lady Champions connected on hits in the win, with Momo Bilbro going 3-for-4 on the night with two RBIs.
Brianna Horn was 2-for-3 with four RBIs, while Alivia Fannin was 1-for-4, with three RBIs.
A nine-run fifth inning was key for the Lady Champs, who built a 19-9 lead by the end of the inning.
Tullahoma threatened Cascade with a six-run rally in the seventh, but reliever Katelyn Lambert was able to work around trouble and record the final out to land the Lady Champs their first win.
Starting pitcher Brianna Horn struck out 13 batters and gave up just one hit, while Lambert pitched the final 2 2/3 innings, giving up three runs on four hits with a pair of punch outs.
Cascade returns to its home field on Thursday and will host Forrest for the District 9-AA opener.
