Lop-sided 2nd downs Eagles

COLUMBIA — A strong second-half effort wasn’t enough for Shelbyville Central as the Eagles fell at Columbia Central in the regular season finale, 69-52.
A lop-sided second quarter was more than Shelbyville was able to overcome, despite outscoring Columbia 35-24 in the second half.
The difference in the game came in the second quarter when the Lions offense erupted for 31 points.
Columbia scored on virtually every level and got timely 3-pointers in the 31-8 romp.
In the second, Columbia got 10 points from Demarion Polk and connected on four treys.
Terrance Johnson did his part and scored all eight points for the Eagles, but couldn’t get any additional help on the offensive end of the court.
Trailing 42-17, Shelbyville heated up in the second half, with the Eagles outscoring Columbia 14-9 in the third and 21-18 in the fourth.
Jack Conditt scored all 11 of his points in the second half, including three 3-pointers, while Kyler Trice went for eight.
The Eagles travel to Lincoln County for their first game of the District 9-4A tournament on Tuesday evening.
