BELL BUCKLE — After edging out a 3-2 win at Marshall County on Friday night, it was the Tigers who spoiled the Champs’ Senior Night on Monday with the 8-1 win over Cascade.
Following a scoreless first, the Tigers put the pressure on Champion starter Walker Craig in the top of the second.
After Craig retired the first two batters, Marshall County went on to load the bases before Craig forced a ground out to leave the bases loaded.
In the bottom of the inning, Cascade went on to load the bases after a Conner Melson single to left, bringing fellow senior Caden Hammonds to the plate.
Hammonds then laced a line drive to right, scoring Logan Pulley.
Hammonds’ RBI single was all the run support the Champs would get, despite Cascade matching the Tigers’ 10 hits.
Hamonds and Melson led the Champs at the plate, going 3-for-4 and 2-for-3, respectively.
Cascade worked through its pitching arsenal, with Craig going three innings.
Jayden Hathock also worked two innings in relief, while Logan Green and Hammonds each pitched an inning.
