SHELBYVILLE — After dropping their previous two games to Clarksville and Ravenwood, Shelbyville Central rallied behind a banner night from Torrion Mathis as the Golden Eagle ground game went wild against Hendersville, snapping the two-game skid with a 42-31 shootout.
Golden Eagle quarterback Stephen Bobo completed just 8-of-15 attempts for 95 yards, but with the Shelbyville ground game shredding the Commando defense, the coaching staff leaned on a loaded backfield who simply wouldn’t be denied.
In total, Shelbyville cranked out 389 yards of real estate on the ground.
Per usual, senior tailback Robert Bailey bullied his way to the century mark on 19 carries and scored once.
But it was Mathis’ night to lead Shelbyville.
Mathis had just nine carries, but totaled 183 yards and scored three times, the longest of which came on a 77 yard jaunt.
Treyvion Mathis and Bobo also scored rushing touchdowns in the win as well.
