Nashville native Gretchen Walsh took the silver medal in the 100-meter butterfly at the start of the 2024 Paris Games.
Walsh finished second behind US teammate Torri Huske, who edged out Walsh at the wall.
Huske won in 55.59, beating Walsh’s second-place time of 55.63.
The silver medal was Walsh’s second of the games as she helped Team USA take second in the 400-meter relay team, swimming the second-fastest leg of the race.
Walsh, who attended Harpeth Hall in Nashville, went on to swim at Virginia University and has won a staggering 18 NCAA championships.
Walsh will also compete in the 50-meter freestyle this weekend.
