No. 1 Coffee Co. beats Shelbyville in semis

MANCHESTER — Shelbyville Central’s Golden Eaglettes were able to keep it close in the first half before host and top-seed Coffee County pulled away in turn second half to claim a 47-29 win the District 9-4A semifinals on Saturday afternoon.
The Eaglettes (15-12) played in the consultation game on Monday and advanced to the region tournament later this week.
Shelbyville Central’s defense caused some havoc in the first half, allowing only 19 points as Coffee County posted leads of 10-7 after the opening frame on the way to a 19-15 advantage at halftime.
The Eaglettes had a number of possession to take the lead bur couldn’t hit the big shot.
Coffee County took advantage of its size at the post and feed the basketball to Channah Gannon, who scored 11 of her 13 points in the second half, including eight in the third quarter and a 35-23 advantage going into the final eight minutes.
Olivia Vinson also netted 13 netted points while Natlie Barnes added 11.
Lilly Brown pace the Eaglettes with 11 points.
