Perry Levi Casteel, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on April 25, 2024, in Tullahoma, TN. He was 88 years old.
Perry spent his youth in the Black Hills of South Dakota, raised his family in White Bear Lake, MN, and retired to Shelbyville, TN. He had a passion for music and dancing, finding true joy in square dancing with his cherished wife, Elaine. He was a dedicated family man and is survived by his loving wife and four children: David LeRay Casteel, Donald Eugene Casteel, Janice Elaine Slosson, and Judith Arlene Janda. He was also blessed with 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
In his retirement, Perry followed his dreams by building and establishing Tri Star Winery in Shelbyville, where he served as proprietor from 1993 to 2016. During his career, he made many significant contributions to various companies by organizing, establishing, and overseeing both manufacturing and engineering departments. He was recognized for his innovative work, product design, cost saving ingenuity and the invention of a coaxial contact insulator.
Perry proudly served in the US Air Force from August 1955 to July 1959 and later pursued higher education at the South Dakota School of Mines and the University of Minnesota with degrees in engineering, business administration, and forestry.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Perry enjoyed golf, dancing, and bowling, always finding time to pursue his hobbies with enthusiasm.
As per his wishes, Perry donated his body to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for research purposes.
Perry will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His legacy of hard work, creativity, and love for his family will continue to inspire generations to come.
