Shelbyville Police Detectives have identified the skeletal remains that were discovered on November 25 in the wooded area between Shoma Park and Blue Ribbon Parkway. They have been confirmed to belong to Sam Avery Wilhoite, a resident of Shelbyville.
Wilhoite was reported missing to the Shelbyville Police by family members on July 20, 2023, who told police no one had seen or heard from Wilhoite since March 2023.
The cause of death is still pending the completion of the forensic examination by the Tennessee Medical Examiner’s Office.
