Prince records 500th K in Viqueen win

UNIONVILLE — Annie Prince recorded her 500th career strikeout and the Community batting lineup hammered visiting Cannon County as the Viqueens advanced in the winners’ bracket with an 11-1 win over the Lionettes on Tuesday night.
Prince was dominant in her 2 1/3 innings pitched, giving up just one walk and striking out seven batters.
Taylar Wessner worked the final 2 2/3 innings and allowed one run on four hits while collecting three punch outs.
Community hammered Cannon County at the plate, collecting nine hits, highlighted by a two-run dinger in the bottom of the second inning by Mattie Maxey.
Maxey, Carlie Blanton and Haylee Webb each drove in two runs in the Viqueen blowout victory.
The win advances the Viqueens to face No. 2 seed Forrest on Wednesday evening with the winner advancing to the District 9-2A championship on Friday night.
