STAFF REPORT

School letter grades were released by the Tennessee Department of Education on Thursday, Dec. 21.

Similar to how classroom letter grades provide a snapshot of student learning, school letter grades are meant to allow families and communities an opportunity to see how well their schools are serving all students, according to the TDOE website.

There are several components, or indicators, that make up the overall score that determines the letter grade, including achievement, growth, growth for high need students, and college and career readiness. The A, B, C, D, F is scores based off of a 1.0 to 5.0.

Here are the current grades given to Bedford County’s 15 schools:

  • Cascade Elementary – C (2.5/5.0)
  • Cascade Middle – B (3.6/5.0)
  • Cascade High – A (4.9/5.0)
  • Community Elementary – B (4.4/5.0)
  • Community Middle – D (2.2/5.0)
