SCHS netters down DeKalb Co.

STAFF REPORT
SHELBYVILLE — On a brisk Saturday morning, the Shelbyville Central tennis teams picked up a pair of wins against visiting DeKalb County.
The Golden Eaglettes claimed the 6-1 win over the visitors, while the Eagles won 5-2.
It was nearly a clean sweep for the Eaglettes, who cruised through the singles matches.
No. 1 Lilly Smith shut out Charlotte Paladino, 8-0.
No. 4 seed Elsa Aldis also claimed a dominant 8-0 shutout victory, while Sophie Ray and Kelsey Shatley cruised to 8-1 wins.
No. 2 seed Abby Thaxton didn’t have it quite as easy, but still came away with the 8-6 win.
In doubles, Smith and Ray blanked their opponents, 8-0, in the No. 1 doubles match, while the lone loss of the day came in the No.2 doubles match.
It was a similar story for the Eagles, who also won the match in convincing fashion.
No. 1 Henry Stone claimed an 8-2 win over Lance Duke, while Tucker and Tanner Johnson both won their matches at the No. 3 and No. 4 spot with 8-3 wins.
Justin Spence had his work cut out for him in the No. 2 spot for the Eagles, but outlasted Ian Barnes in an 8-6 thriller.
Stone and Tucker Johnson made quick work of their opponents in the No. 1 doubles match, winning 8-1, with the No. 2 doubles duo of Spence and Tanner Johnson fell 8-4.
