Scott Chamberlin Hubbard, Jr., age 82, of Shelbyville, Tenn., passed from this life Monday, November 13, 2023, at Williamson Medical Center.
Mr. Hubbard was born September 25, 1941, in Nashville, Tenn., to the late Scott Chamberlin Hubbard, Sr. and Sara Kinzly Hubbard. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jessica Hubbard.
He graduated class of 1959 from Hillsboro High School and received a bachelor’s degree in math from Vanderbilt University. He then served two years in the Navy before continuing his education to receive his master’s degree in accounting from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. He worked in the apparel industry for many years before retiring in 2005 as CFO.
Scott was a member of Shelbyville First United Methodist Church and was very active within the church. He would often volunteer in the church’s office where he performed many duties. With the detailed eye of a CPA, he was great at proofing the church bulletins and newsletters. He also enjoyed working in the kitchen and volunteering at the Shelbyville Community Soup Kitchen. He loved gardening and watching birds at his bird feeder.
He is survived by: loving wife of 53 years, Patricia Simmons Hubbard of Shelbyville; son, Josh Hubbard and wife Katie of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Caleb and Caroline Hubbard of Texas, and Eli Hubbard and Victoria Moyer of Florida; sister, Sherly Hubbard Mott of Forrest City, Ark.; niece, Ashley Mott-Murphree of Jonesboro, Ark.; along with close cousins and extended family members.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 1 p.m. December 1, 2023, at Shelbyville First United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held prior to services beginning at noon at the church.
