On Saturday afternoon, prior to first pitch against the Nashville Lady Knights, Shelbyville Central honored former Eaglette Alyvia Smith on Strike Out Cancer Day.
Smith, who was diagnosed with cancer last year, completed her last round of treatment in March and is in remission. On Saturday, she threw out the ceremonial first pitch and the Shelbyville Central softball team chronicled her journey on her courageous fight against cancer.
