STAFF REPORT
The body of a Shelbyville man was found at Normandy Lake this past weekend, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA).
TWRA stated that game wardens responded to a report of a possible missing boater on Normandy Lake in Coffee County on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m.
According to TWRA, the family and friends of Marvin Parker, 66, said the Shelbyville native went out on Normandy Lake on Friday, March 6, to fish and place fish attractors in the water, yet they had not heard from him since that day.
A family member spotted Parker’s unoccupied vessel along the shoreline near Normandy Dam on Sunday and contacted 911 to report him missing. While first responders were on the lake investigating, a fisherman in a nearby creek reported discovering a body. Responders recovered the individual and positively identified him as Parker.
Parker was not wearing a personal flotation device at the time of the incident. This is the second boating-related fatality on Tennessee waterways for 2026, and the incident remains under investigation.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is responsible for protecting, managing, and conserving fish and wildlife species for the benefit of Tennesseans and visitors. The agency also maintains public safety through law enforcement and safety education on waterways.
