SHELBYVILLE — The Shelbyville Central tennis teams took two dominant wins on Senior Day against Franklin County, with the Eaglettes claiming a 7-0 sweep and the Eagles taking a 5-2 win over the Rebels.
For the Eaglettes, it was a clean sweep across the board.
No. 1 Lilly Smith, No. 2 Abby Thaxton and No. 5 Ryann Sammons all took 8-1 wins over their opponents, while No. 2 Addie Berry and No. 3 Sophie Ray dominated with 8-0 wins.
For doubles, it was more of the same, with the No. 1 duo of Smith and Ray taking an 8-0 win and No. 2 doubles partners Berry and Thaxton also claiming an 8-0 win.
The Eagles saw a similarly dominant performance en route to a 5-2 win over Franklin County.
No. 1 singles seed Henry Stone dominated his way to an 8-1 win.
Justin Spence won his No. 2 match in convincing fashion as well, beating Krish Patel, 8-3.
Tanner Johnson and Daniel Hernandez fell in the No. 3 and 4 matches, both by an 8-6 final score, while Carter Watson swept Logan Boyd for the 8-0 win for the final singles win for the Eagles.
Stone and Hernandez cruised to an 8-2 doubles win in the No. 1 match, while Spence and Johnson battled their way to an 8-5 win.
