Shelton goes for 28 leads Golden Eagles to huge win over Centennial

SHELBYVILLE — What started as a first-half shootout between Shelbyville Central and Centennial turned into a blowout victory for the home-standing Eagles, thanks to a dominant second half.
Shelbyville scored 50 second-half points and went on to beat Centennial 93-73.
Simply put, Tae’Shawn Shelton wouldn’t be denied.
He led all scorers with 28 points, including 16 points in the first half.
Shelbyville led 24-17 after the first quarter, but saw Centennial rally to cut the Golden Eagle lead to two points by halftime.
The biggest difference in the game came in a 50-37 run in the second half, highlighted by a 27 point third period.
Shelton added nine points in the third, while Tommie Cannon chipped in seven.
Malek Johnson also added six in the quarter as well.
In addition to Shelton’s 28, three more Eagles hit double figures, with Jevon Lee adding 19.
Tommie Cannon and Jordan Taylor scored 13 and 12, respectively.
As a team, Shelbyville shot 13-of-25 attempts at the free throw line as well.
