THOMPSON’S STATION — A six-run third inning was more than enough to lead Shelbyville Central past Independence on Monday evening, 9-4.
After grabbing the 2-0 lead in the first inning on a RBI triple by October Dresback and an error, the Eaglettes blew the game wide open with a six-spot in the top of the third.
Dresback again answered with a two-run shot over the center field fence in the third.
Sydney Moore drove in a third run of the inning on a double to center before Bailey Dunn later scored on an error.
Shelbyville tacked on one final run in the top of the fifth, but then things got interesting in the bottom of the frame.
Two errors led to Independence plating four runs in the fifth inning, but aside from that, couldn’t get any more offensive production across the home plate.
Dresback had a stellar night, going 2-for-3 with a triple and a home run and three RBIs.
Sammie Brown got the win in the pitcher’s circle and went three innings and gave up just two hits while striking out three.
