Freshman Lilly Smith and junior Henry Stone cemented their legacy in stone in Shelbyville Central tennis history, with both the top seeds claiming the individual tournament championship over the past week,
Smith was dominant in her run, defeating Wen Arlin of Tullahoma 8-4.
She then had to face teammate and fellow doubles partner Sophie Ray and claimed a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
She faced Olivia Farrell in the championship and closed out her run in the tournament with equally dominant results, claiming a 6-1, 6-1 win.
Like Smith, Stone also showcased his dominance throughout his chase for a district title.
He opened with an 8-4 over Tullahoma’s Tommy Pham and followed with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Coffee County’s Liam Brown.
The final match became tricky for Stone, edging Lincoln County’s Jackson Porter 7-5 in the first set.
The second set was put on hold due to inclement weather, but once play resumed on Monday, Stone picked
