Champions split district series with Forrest, finish strong with three more wins

Elijah Wesenberg got the win in relief and added two hits with a RBI in a 9-8 win over Hubbard, Ohio on Friday.
Cascade turned in a strong week, splitting its district series with Forrest before shutting out Central Magnet and Moore County.
Forrest 3, Cascade 2
Cascade came up just short in Monday’s opener despite a strong effort at the plate. The Champions scored twice in the third inning to briefly take the lead, with Wickey Parker driving in a run as part of a three-hit night. Forrest answered with runs in the third and fourth to regain control and held on from there.
Cascade finished with six hits, with Parker leading the way. Jordan Childress, Elijah Wesenberg and Xykaiah Dixon each added a hit.
Cascade 4, Forrest 0
Cascade bounced back Tuesday behind a dominant performance from Jayden Hathcock. The right-hander tossed a complete-game one-hitter, striking out eight. The Champions broke through in the second inning on an RBI single by Thomas Demartelaere and added two more runs in the sixth. Hathcock also had two hits, while Demartelaere and Caleb Crouch recorded multi-hit games.
Cascade 4, Central Magnet 0
Cascade carried the momentum into Wednesday, using early power and strong pitching to secure another shutout. Jordan Childress opened the scoring with a solo home run in the first, and the Champions added insurance in the second and fifth innings.
Brody Greene struck out eight over four scoreless innings, and Childress closed it out in relief. Xykaiah Dixon and Daymian Maldonado each had two hits.
Cascade 6, Moore County 0
Cascade delivered a complete performance Thursday, shutting out Moore County 6-0 behind a dominant effort on the mound. The Champions combined to allow just one hit while striking out 10. Wickey Parker set the tone with three hitless innings, Caleb Crouch added two scoreless frames with five strikeouts, and Daylon Young closed it out.
Cascade broke through in the second inning, added two runs in the fourth, and pulled away with a three-run seventh.
Eli Wesenberg homered to lead the offense, while Crouch recorded two hits. River Maddox doubled and drove in a run as part of a six-hit night for the Champions.
Cascade 9, Hubbard, Ohio 8
Cascade erased an early deficit with a six-run third inning and leaned on timely hitting and strong relief pitching to claim a 9-8 win over Hubbard.
The Champions finished with eight hits, with Daymian Maldonado and Jayce Cagle each driving in two runs. Elijah Wesenberg sparked the offense with two hits and an RBI, while Ty Hawley and Nicholas Mayhorn added key hits during the rally.
After Hubbard jumped out early, Cascade’s pitching settled in. Wesenberg was the difference in relief, allowing just two runs over three innings while striking out four to earn the win.
Davidson Academy 11, Cascade 1
Davidson Academy used a decisive third-inning outburst to hand Cascade an 11-1 loss Saturday, breaking open a close game with six runs in the frame.
Xykaiah Dixon, Daymian Maldonado, Caleb Crouch and Jordan Childress each recorded a hit for the Champions.
Jayce Cagle took the loss for Cascade.
Cascade (10-5, 2-2) will look to bounce back Monday on the road at Summertown as they return to district action. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 P.M.
