Shelbyville Central endured a tough two-game stretch this week, falling to Lincoln County 16-0 on Monday and Coffee County 11-1 on Tuesday.
Lincoln County 16, Shelbyville Central 0
Lincoln County wasted no time taking control in Monday’s matchup, erupting for 15 runs over the first two innings to hand the Eaglettes a tough loss. The Lady Falcons scored six times in the first inning, then added nine more in the second to put the game out of reach early.
Shelbyville managed just one hit in the loss, with leadoff hitter Janiya Leslie collecting the Eaglettes’ lone base knock. Tenley West got the start in the circle, and Ava Robb came on in relief.
Coffee County 11, Shelbyville Central 1
The Eaglettes were more competitive early against Coffee County on Tuesday, staying within striking distance through the first three innings.
Shelbyville trailed just 2-0 before trimming the deficit to 2-1 in the top of the fourth.
That was as close as the Eaglettes would get. Coffee County answered with a nine-run bottom of the fourth, stringing together eight hits and taking advantage of Shelbyville miscues to break the game open and pull away for the 11-1 victory.
Ja’Mya Anderson provided the offensive highlight for Shelbyville, going 1-for-2 with the team’s lone RBI. Jazzlynn Nowlin added the Eaglettes’ other hit.
Rileah Crutcher started in the circle and worked into the fourth inning, allowing five runs, three earned, before Coffee County’s rally took full shape.
West and Robb came on in relief to finish the game.
Shelbyville Central (2-13, 0-2) returns home Monday to host Moore County. First pitch is scheduled for 6 P.M.
