Golden Eagles Swept by Lincoln County, finish 5-0 in Mid-South Classic

Shelbyville Central struggled to start the week as they were swept in district action by Lincoln County, but responded strongly by winning five consecutive games in the Mid-South Classic.
Lincoln County 7, Shelbyville Central 2
In Monday’s opener, the Eagles battled into the middle innings and briefly drew even before Lincoln County used a late push to take control.
Shelbyville found its offense in the fourth inning when Cade Davis scored and both Brody Thomas and Ashton Whorley drove in runs to help the Eagles tie the game. But that would be the extent of the scoring for Shelbyville.
Lincoln County had taken an early 1-0 lead in the first inning, answered Shelbyville’s fourth-inning surge, then broke the game open with two runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth.
Kade Maillet worked four innings on the mound for Shelbyville, allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits. Eli Westbrooks pitched the final two innings in relief.
Lincoln County 8, Shelbyville Central 3
In Tuesday’s rematch, Lincoln County again set the tone early, scoring in each of the first three innings to build a 5-0 lead.
The Falcons added one run in the first, then plated two in the second and two more in the third as Shelbyville struggled to slow Lincoln County starter Cody Quick. Lincoln County stretched its advantage to 8-0 with three more runs in the fifth before Shelbyville finally broke through in the sixth.
Caden Peacock delivered an RBI, while Chase Billig and Ashton Whorley each drove in a run as the Eagles cut the deficit to 8-3. Shelbyville finished with nine hits in the loss, with Miles McCullough and Blake Bone collecting two apiece to lead the offense.
Brody Thomas took the loss on the mound, allowing five runs, three earned, over 2 2/3 innings. Billig provided 3 1/3 innings of relief, and Whorley closed out the seventh.
Shelbyville Central 13, Hubbard, Ohio 3
Shelbyville used a five-run third inning to pull away and never looked back in a 13-3 win over Hubbard on Thursday.
The Eagles finished with 11 hits and took advantage of eight walks to keep pressure on throughout.
Stephen Bobo led the way with three hits and three RBIs, while Brody Thomas added two hits and two RBIs. Braxton Vari scored three times and chipped in two hits, and Hayden Davis and Blake Bone each drove in two runs.
On the mound, Thomas struck out seven over four strong innings to earn the win, while Vari closed it out in relief as the Eagles cruised to the victory.
Shelbyville Central 9, Lebanon, Indiana 3
Shelbyville shook off an early deficit and surged past Lebanon 9-3 Friday morning behind a dominant middle-inning rally.
Trailing 3-0 after the first, the Eagles answered with three runs in the third before erupting for six in the fourth to take control.
Eli Westbrooks powered the offense with four RBIs, while Miles McCullough went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Blake Bone added a pair of RBIs, and Stephen Bobo and Braxton Vari each crossed the plate twice as Shelbyville piled up 10 hits.
Ashton Whorley earned the win on the mound, allowing three runs (two earned) over five innings while striking out four. Shelbyville held Lebanon scoreless after the first inning to seal the comeback victory.
Shelbyville Central 2, Heritage Christian 1
Shelbyville rode dominant pitching and a timely sixth inning to edge Heritage Christian 2-1 on Friday evening.
The Eagles broke through with two runs in the sixth, with Bryson Thomas delivering both RBIs. Blake Bone led the offense with a 3-for-4 night, while Shelbyville finished with seven hits overall. On the mound, Kade Maillet was outstanding, striking out 12 over six innings while allowing just two hits and one run. Eli Westbrooks shut the door in the seventh to secure the win.
Shelbyville Central 5, Alexandria-Monroe 3
Shelbyville used a five-run fourth inning to erase an early deficit and defeat Alexandria-Monroe 5-3 on Saturday morning.
The Eagles racked up eight hits, led by Stephen Bobo’s perfect 3-for-3 day. Miles McCullough added two hits and an RBI, while Eli Westbrooks, Caden Peacock, and Hayden Davis each drove in a run during the decisive rally.
Braxton Vari earned the win on the mound, and Blake Bone closed it out with a scoreless inning.
Shelbyville 11, Van Buren, Ohio 1
Shelbyville jumped out early and never looked back, scoring eight runs in the first two innings to power an 11-1 win over Van Buren on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles got production throughout the lineup, led by Ashton Worley (2-for-2, 3 RBIs) and Cameron Burke (2 hits, 4 RBIs). Brody Thomas scored three times, while Stephen Bobo tripled and Braxton Vari added an RBI double. On the mound, Chase Billig earned the win, allowing one run on two hits over 3.1 innings with four strikeouts. Burke and Cade Davis combined in relief to hold Van Buren to three hits on the day.
Shelbyville Central (15-4, 2-2)returns to district action on Monday as they travel to Coffee County for the first game of the two game series. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 P.M.
