SHELBYVILLE — Parker Burks pitched five strong innings and Shelbyville Central picked up a big win on Senior Night, beating Lawrence County in convincing fashion, 6-2.
Burks got the start for the Golden Eagles and went five innings, giving up two runs on three hits, while striking out three.
Stephen Bobo worked two innings in relief, allowing two hits and striking out five of the six batters faced.
Lawrence County jumped ahead in the top of the second, scoring a single run, while Shelbyville took control of the game with a three-spot in the bottom of the frame.
A Nick Hopper double to center field scored two and he later scored on a passed ball for the 3-1 Eagle lead.
Shelbyville padded its lead in the fifth, knocking in three more runs.
Senior Carston Williams laid down a bunt single, scoring Bobo.
Two batters later, William Bobo scored on a passed ball of his own before Brody Lovvorn ripped a two RBI triple to right.
Hopper went 1-for-3 with two RBIs to his credit with a double, while Johnson was 1-for-3 with a double as well.
