BELL BUCKLE — A hot start by USN was more than the Webb School could overcome on Tuesday afternoon in a 7-3 loss.
USN plated one run in the first, four in the second and by the end of the third, held a 6-0 lead over Webb.
USN got on the board with a bases-loaded walk in the top of the first, but starting pitcher Jayden Lee pitched his way out of trouble and only surrendered the one run in the first, before recording a strikeout for the third out of the inning.
An error and two base hits drove in the next four runs for USN before a sixth run scored in the top of the third on a sac-fly.
Needing an answer, Webb went to work in the bottom of the fourth and cut the USN lead in half with a three-spot thanks to some savvy work at the plate.
Ryan Edwards and Gunnar Boles led off the inning with back-to-back singles and Owen Fogle drove in the first Webb run of the game on a double to right.
Two more runs scored when Mac Hopper ground out to second.
While Webb was able to cut into the USN lead, the Feet were unable to produce anymore runs and held scoreless over the final three innings.
Lee went 1 2/3 innings before the Feet went to the bullpen.
In total, three pitchers worked relief innings on Tuesday night.
Webb gets the remainder of the week off before hosting MTCS on Monday night at 4:30 p.m.
