LYLES — It had been nine days since the Community Vikings hit the hard court and after the long layover due to wintry weather, the Community Vikings (8-11) bounced back in the win column and took the 54-43 non-district win at East Hickman on Tuesday night.
The two squads played to an even 14-all after the first quarter, with Community’s Landon Lovvorn dumping in seven points in the opening period.
He continued to effectively score in the second as Community out-paced the Eagles (8-14) 11-6 to carry a 25-20 lead into the half.
The hosts rebounded with a 14-point third quarter, with Mason Nolen knocking down a pair of 3-pointers, but even with the third-quarter surge, the Vikings were effectively able to get to the free throw line and put the game on ice in the fourth with 17 more points.
As a team, Community connected on 7-of-10 attempts in the fourth, with Lovvorn tacking on six more points of his game-high 18.
Lovvorn was the lone Viking to reach double figures, while Landon Berman added nine.
The Vikings return to their home court on Friday evening, traveling to cross county rival Cascade in a key District 9-AA matchup.
