LaFAYETTE — A hard-fought effort ended in heartbreak on Thursday night as Community dropped a tough loss at Macon County, 50-48.
Macon County clung to a 15-12 lead after the first quarter, bust saw the Vikings rally to cut the Tiger lead to one point with a 13-11 run in the second quarter.
Jaxson Williams went for seven points in the second to lead the 13-point quarter for Community.
The seesaw affair continued into the third quarter with five different Vikings penciling their name in the scoring column, but it was Macon County that was able to add to its lead with another 16-14 run in the quarter.
Community did manage to outscore the hosts 9-8 in the fourth, but just couldn’t come up with the needed shot to tie at the buzzer.
