SANTA FE — A 22-point third quarter wasn’t enough for the Community Vikings on Friday night at Santa Fe, as the Purple and Gold suffered its first loss on the season.
Santa Fe’s Auden Slaughter made the night for the Wildcats.
He was able foul magnet all night and of his game-high 39 points, cashed in on 13-of-20 tries at the line.
His biggest quarter came in the second period when he went 7-of-8 attempts from the charity stripe and spurred on an 18-8 run to out-score the Vikings for a 34-22 halftime lead.
Charlie Haskins returned the favor in the third quarter and shot 4-of-5 attempts at the line and led Community with 10 points as the Vikings went on a 22-17 run in the quarter.
But even with the surge after the intermission, Santa Fe closed the game with 16 more points to hang on for the 14-point win.
For the Vikings, Haskins led the team with 19 points, while Landon Berman added 16.
Landon Lovvorn also hit double figures and finished with 10.
As a team, Santa Fe connected on 17-of-30 free throw attempts, contrasted to Community’s 12-of-15 night at the line.
The Vikings took part in the Cornersville Thanksgiving Classic, which tipped off on Monday and played through Wednesday.
