UNIONVILLE — A massive second quarter sparked the Community Vikings to a 58-44 win over visiting Central Magnet on Wednesday night.
Central Magnet played Community to a single possession in the first quarter on Wednesday, but in the second period, Charlie Haskins put his team on his back and gave the Vikings a sizable cushion they never relinquished.
Leading a 22-point Viking quarter, Haskins went for 11 points in the period, including a 3-pointer, to help Community build a commanding 33-17 lead.
Central did manage to outscore Community 14-11 in the third by slowing the game and working to the line, but the Tigers only managed to make 3-of-10 attempts from the charity stripe in the quarter.
Community closed the game with a balanced attack in the fourth, with Austin Stickler scoring six, while Landon Lovvorn and Haskins each scored four to help lock down the win.
Lovvorn joined Haskins in double figures and chipped in 15, while Stickler finished with eight points in the win.
Wednesday’s game snapped a three-game skid for the Vikings and sets up another non-district game on Saturday at York Institute.
