MURFREESBORO — The Viqueen bats were red-hot in their 2024 season opener.
Community belted out a whopping 20 hits and the Viqueens crushed Central Magnet 18-5 to pick up the first regular season win of the year.
Six different Viqueens recorded multiple hits in the win and three of those recorded three RBIs in the blowout.
Virtually everything went Community’s way in Tuesday’s opener.
The Viqueens scored in every inning, saw 10 players record a hit in the win, and got a great outing from pitchers Anna Haskins and Annie Prince.
Of the Viqueens’ 20 hits, eight went for two bases and Taylar Wessner smacked a leadoff triple in the top of the third.
The biggest hit of the night came off the bat of Kailani Allen with a two-run shot in the Viqueen sixth.
In the pitcher’s circle, Annie Prince got the start and went 3 2/3 innings, giving up four runs, only two of which were earned, while fanning nine batters.
Haskins worked the final 2 1/3 innings in relief and gave up just one unearned run on one hit.
The Viqueens are on the road again on Thursday night before the home opener on Friday night against Hickman County.
