UNIONVILLE — After dropping back-to-back games and struggling to find consistency on the offensive end of the court, the Community Viqueens bounced back with a thrilling 58-54 non-district win over Harpeth on Tuesday night.
The Viqueens took advantage of an 11-3 run in the third period and scratched together just enough production in the fourth to hang on for the four-point win.
It was a total team effort with eight Viqueens penciling their name into the scoring column, with Alyssa White’s 14 points leading all scorers.
Taylar Wessner and Anna Haskins both chipped in nine points in the win.
Community jumped out to a one-point lead in the first quarter by effectively getting to the free throw line and cashing in on 6-of-6 attempts, and sprinkling in a pair of 3-pointers as well.
Harpeth hung tough, however, and trailed just 16-15 after the first period.
The Lady Indians got hot from the perimeter in the second and made good on four treys to pull ahead with a 20-point quarter.
Kathryn Sego led the Purple and Gold charge, tacking on eight more points.
By halftime, Harpeth led 35-33.
Trailing by two, Community got six points from White in the third quarter and a key 3-pointer to rally to an eight-point lead heading to the fourth.
Community again used a balanced attack in the fourth, with Haskins and White each chipping in four points to hang on for the win.
Community begins a key stretch of five District 9-AA games on Wednesday, hosting Cannon County at 6 p.m.
