Viqueens crush Cannon Co. in 9-AA opener

UNIONVILLE — The Community Viqueens erupted into the postseason with a dominant 16-0 win against Cannon County in the District 9-AA opener on Thursday evening.
Alana Tate and Kailani Allen both launched homers, starting pitcher Taylar Wessner helped her own cause with two doubles, Anna Haskins went 2-for-2 with a triple and McKenzie Tucker drove in four RBIs.
Tate also drove in three runs as well.
Wessner pitched three innings against the Lionettes without giving up a hit and struck out five batters.
In the nine-run second inning and with two outs, Tate mashed a three-run blast and in the next at-bat, Allen launched her solo blast to center field.
The win marked the fourth-straight win for the Viqueens and three of those wins came via shutout efforts.
Community will advance in the 9-AA winners bracket, which will be played at the higher seed on Tuesday night.
