WOODBURY — Back-to-back three-run innings to start the game on Monday night was more than enough to lead the Community Viqueens to the 10-0 District 9-AA win at Cannon County.
A wild pitch and wild sequence of events allowed Community to score three in the top of the first.
With a 3-0 lead, and having sat the Lionettes down in order in the bottom of the first, the Viqueens played add on in the second with a RBI single off the bat of Anna Haskins.
Two more Purple and Gold runs scored off Lionette errors in the inning and by the end of the second, Community led 6-0.
RBI triples from McKenzie Tucker and Taylar Wessner allowed Community to hit the 10-run rule limit.
Tucker plated two on her triple, while Wessner knocked in one run on her three-bagger.
Wessner also scored on a Cannon County error. Haskins went 2-for-3, while Tucker went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
Annie Prince went four innings and gave up just one hit, a fourth-inning single, while striking out nine.
Gracie Daniel worked a scoreless inning in relief and notched a strikeout.
