MURFREESBORO — It was by no means an offensive masterpiece for either Central Magnet or Community on Thursday night.
But the Lady Tigers were able to generate enough offensive support behind leading scorer Addison Melton to hold off the Viqueens for a 45-32 non-district win.
Just three Viqueens found their way into the scoring column on Thursday night.
Alyssa White led the way with 17 points, while Anna Haskins chipped in 13.
The first quarter saw White connect on Community’s only two shots from the floor, while Melton scored a quick five for the home crowd.
The game continued to have a closely-contested offensive effort from both teams, with Central Magnet clinging to a slim lead in each quarter.
By halftime, CMS led 20-14.
Not much changed in the second half as the Lady Tigers outscored the Viqueens by a combined 25-18.
Melton scored a total 22 points, including all 12 of Central Magnet’s points in the third quarter.
For Community, White did the bulk of her damage in the fourth quarter where she scored seven points to lead the Purple and Gold.
Community hopes to snap its skid on Friday night when the Viqueens host Macon County.
