ZION CHRISTIAN 3, COMMUNITY 2
After taking a 2-0 lead on Zion Christian in the tournament opener, the Lady Eagles plated three runs in the top of the fifth to edge Community, 3-2.
Carlie Blanton put the Viqueens on the board with a RBI single in the bottom of the second and Community got a second run on a Gracie Daniel double in the bottom of the third.
But Zion was the beneficiary of a pair of errors committed by the Purple and Gold in the top of the fifth inning, which allowed the Eagles to tie the game at two.
The eventual game-winner came on a ground out.
Of the five Viqueen hits, three went for extra bases, with Daniel, Taylar Wessner and McKenzie Tucker all smacking doubles.
Wessner was the tough-luck losing pitcher, going the distance for Community and allowing just three hits, but three unearned runs.
She also struck out five.
