Viqueens struggle at Cannon Co.

WOODBURY — While it was a one-possession lead by the end of the first quarter, Cannon County (20-5, 7-0) responded with three strong quarters to beat Community 48-22 on Monday night.
Anna Haskins scored all nine of the Viqueens’ points, including two 3-pointers in the opening quarter.
Cannon County’s Jenna Bush and Addie King both hit two-pointers and Abi Alexander added two more free throws, but Community (8-16, 3-3) still held a 9-6 lead after the first.
The Lionettes continued to attack the paint and as a result, was able to effectively get to the free throw line.
In doing so, the hosts made just 4-of-8 tries in the second, but was able to double up the Viqueens in the quarter to a 18-14 lead by halftime.
While still just two-possession game at the half, Cannon County’s Abbilyn Teter erupted in the third quarter for 10 points as Cannon County went on a 17-6 run through the quarter.
Things continued to spiral for the Viqueens as Community was held to just one field goal in the fourth—a basket by Brooklyn Yoes—while Cannon County added 13 more to close out the win.
Haskins scored 13 points to lead Community.
The Viqueens close the regular season with back-to-back games against Grundy County on Thursday and Friday.
